Day 9 - No Parks!
Day off and Disney Springs
Hanging out with friends and taking it easy
Late start again which is nice and we throw on some clothes to quickly go see the Donahue's who are in Kona Cafe at our hotel for a birthday breakfast with their family. They ate at 10am and there's no way we were making plans to join them for that this morning. The sleep in was needed. We go over there to give them a bunch of treats from the UK that they like and it consists of Crunchie Rocks, McVities Fruit Shortcake, Caramel Digestives and Chocolate Digestive Bites. Bog standard choccy for us but a luxurious treat for them.
We then need brekkie and Dirk recommends Waffle House. We've never been, they look grotty. It WAS grotty but the food was amazing and it was a real traditional, non-touristy kind of diner. Perfect for eggs, bacon and hash brown.
After breakfast we drive over to Fort Wilderness Campground where the Donahues are staying for birthday cake and for the kids to ride out on the SeaRaycers. A storm hits though and the water activities are cancelled. No worries, we hang out there for a while in their cabin. The campground is pretty cool. We've been there a few times but only for the Backyard BBQ with Mickey Mouse and Joanne and I used to go there for River Country water park 'back in the day'. This is the first time we've seen the accommodation though. Great for families and we thought it was a lot like Center Parcs. Very cool and chilled place.
To keep with the relaxed theme of the day we then drive over to Disney Springs for a few snacks (Bolognaise Poutine), Sprinkles Cupcakes, Smores at the Ganachery (WOW!) and then over to Ghiradelli to take back some Caramel Chocolate Squares to the hotel.
Back at The Polynesian and we kick the boys to the pool and order a couple of Lapu Lapu to take to the poolside. We always HAVE to have a Lapu Lapu at The Poly. It's a hollowed out pineapple filled with rum, rum and more rum. It's a perfect nightcap and I can't believe this is the first one we've had in over a week. Too busy for it I guess. There will be more though, I can assure you of that.
BEDTIME, we're fully recharged now and ready to get full on again tomorrow....

This commment is unpublished. How lovely to catch up with your friends. 13 already? You Americans came top on medals in the World Athletic Championships. I think you should celebrate with another Lapu Lapu ( they look sensational). We came third so will celebrate with a nice long gin and tonic.. Enjoy your day. Sounds like you are ready for action AGAIN. Love you all. Xxxx
