Day 16 - Pool morning and EPCOT
Dinner in EPCOT
German Biergarten
We're up at the crack of 10am and decide to just lounge until early afternoon as we have a dinner reservation with the Donahue's at the German pavilion in EPCOT at 7pm.
This pool is just glorious. We have unlimited soft drink refills for our entire stay and it's just a few steps to Capt. Cooks, the quick service restaurant at The Poly to fill up each time. Even if the Magic Kingdom wasn't right next door this hotel wasn't in Walt Disney World we would still love to stay here. it just seems really homely and everything is so laid back and relaxed. The next 4 hours just fly by. The kids are happy, we're happy. We don't feel the need to be heading to a park every day. As long as they are both happy with this then we are too. And anyway....the Lava Flow cocktails are, erm, Flowing today...
Showered and out by 3pm we decide to take the monorail to the TTC (Transportation and Ticket Center). We don't usually do this to get to EPCOT as it's a 5 minute walk to the TTC from our hotel but we decide to take a ride. 15 mins later we're on the monorail to EPCOT and that feeling when Spaceship Earth looms in the distance never gets old, that big 'ol golf ball never becomes any less impressive.
We rush to The Land as we have Soarin' fastpasses and then have a quick walk over to Germany to meet our friends. The Biergarten restuarant is buffet style and we feast on delicious meats, veg and desserts. A german band play on the stage and Dirk knows them all so they come over for a chat after their set. Some Werthers covered popcorn on the way out for Jack which we all share and quickly polish off and the 4 kids then run over to Test Track as it is now 5 minutes to park closing. Joanne then goes on a shopping spree in Mouse Gears which is the largest merchadise store in EPCOT and picks up a new hand luggage case she's had her eye on for the past two weeks, some wine glasses, 2 beach towels and a t-shirt for me. It's great packing the kids off on a ride....that would have been a longer list had they been around ;-) It's not that we mind them getting stuff but some it it is just absolute junk that you know will end up down the back of the settee within days. They've had LOTS though so far so they can't complain :-)
After this we walk around a deserted World Showcase towards the United Kingdom so we can walk from there to Disney's Boardwalk as Angie is giving us a ride back to our hotel. We considered ice cream in the parlour they have there but the queue is huge so we'll make a mental note to go back there next week.
It's now midnight after a late night dip and it's lights out. Yet another fabulous day.
This was last night as if you read the earlier days i'm sat by the Polynesian pool and it's 10am. I'm going to go wake up 'the clan' soon as I want to add a few photos to these words. I haven't been snapping many to be honest but I think we have plenty of ride photos and iPhone snaps to choose. I'll try and take the camera out more this last week. It's just nice mooching round the parks with no bags or pushchair. It's been a while since we could do that.
