Day 14 - Universal Studios
Back to the concrete jungle
Last day of our Universal Studios pass
I can't bring myself to fully like Universal Studios. I can't put my finger on it really as the rides are absolutely world class but there's a general vibe I don't like about it and if it wasn't for the kids i'd skip the place every time.
It's hot, it's crowded, it's loud, it's garish, oh.....I guess I CAN put my finger on it, haha,
Anyway, we do have a good day riding everything we have missed on the first day and then some:
Harry Potter and The Escape From Gringotts (amazingly good fun)
E.T (feels very dated but always good fun)
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit (vertical start rollercoaster - twice!)
Race Through New York with Jimmy Fallon (4D simulator in a big theatre with a huge screen. Very impressive)
Skull Island (a new ride based on King Kong, totally new ride through experience which was really good too)
Harry Potter and The Forbidden Journey
Dragon Challenge
Spider-Man
The Incredible Hulk to finish which the boys rode in the dark and we sat out.
Wow! Looking at that list we did it all.
That picture of Josh at that fire hydrant you can see below is something I always have to take as I have a video of him playing with that in his nappy. I'll dig that out when I get home and add it to the other photos I have of it. It is CRAZY to see him this grown up :-(
The park closed at 9pm so we took the car to Best Buy where I bought a fitbit tracket (gotta get back to the gym somehow and looking for inspiration) and then onwards to a rough part of town at a Walmart. There's all sorts of undesirables here at this time of night (not a great area to be in after dark. Cue Mum freaking out) so we quickly grab what we need (a mini screwdriver set and a watch battery - total cost $4) to fix Jack's own fitness tracker and we're out of there and heading to an 'Epic McDonalds' for a cheap meal. This particular McD's has a play area, an arcade, a dessert counter and has items on the menu like pasta and pizza. Joanne left half her pasta meal so that tells the story of that little experiment ;-)
Back down the I4 to Disney and we're in bed at 2am.
A hectic hot one but we completed what we set out to achieve and completed Universal. We now have one week in the best theme park in the world....Walt Disney World.
Sorry if this is sounding rushed by the way. It's 9am and i'm sat by the Polynesian Pool at 9am on a Sunday catching up on all the days i've missed. The 3 J's are in bed but I can never seem to get past 7am. That's a problem at home but when i'm sat looking out over Magic Kingdom listening to Hawaiian music, well I don't have much (in fact, I have nothing) to complain about :-)

This commment is unpublished.· 20/08/2017I'm not letting you get away with this one without telling me what music you rode Rip-Ride Rockit listening to! We rode twice, because we had 2 tunes in mind, so had to try it with both - Motley Crue's Kickstart My Heart and Evanescence's Bring Me To Life (I wanted to do a 3rd to catch Finger Eleven's Paralyzer, but Toni was fed-up waiting!). So what did you choose, Dene?
